This is a crazy weekend for me because the churches in our town are hosting a seven hour music festival. We had to set up a huge stage last night, we are about to go set up the sound and lights, and then we will be tearing down until who knows when ...
With that in mind, here is a video with a few words from Joel Salatin. Enjoy...
The Journey of a Beginning Farmer :: As a child I spent most of my life in town living with my mom, but whenever I visited my Dad and his side of the family it was on the farm. From my earliest memories I have always wanted to be a farmer (except when I wanted to be a cowboy). Now, I am trying to fulfill that dream. This will be a journal of that journey :: my research, my joys, my frustrations, and all of the things that go along with the beginning farmer.

Nice! So...you're a hobby farmer!?
You know, every time I heard somebody talk about Joel Salatin there seemed to be a little bit of hedging... you know, "He's got a lot of good points, but he's a little crazy." Ok, fair enough.
Then I read one of his books... the man is brilliant! Of course there was a thing or two I didn't agree with, but crazy? I didn't necessarily think so. Is that bad that I don't think Joel Salatin's crazy? ; )
I think he's brilliant too. It's just that he's been at this for so long and has things moving along in such a cool cycle that it's hard for alot of people to imagine trying to do what he does from scratch. Also, he gets so excited about food and farming that people think he must be loony. :-)
I thought this was interesting,
