With all the work that needs to be done around our place I can always use a couple of extra hands. That is why I'm so excited to announce that we are the proud parents of a new baby boy, Isaac Daniel! He was born Tuesday night without many problems and we are planning on going home today. My wife did a great job as always and is recovering very well ... she is a great mom.
So, now I will have another set of hands to help me with chores and follow me around the farm ... and I have to admit that I'm really looking forward to it! More to come later...
The Journey of a Beginning Farmer :: As a child I spent most of my life in town living with my mom, but whenever I visited my Dad and his side of the family it was on the farm. From my earliest memories I have always wanted to be a farmer (except when I wanted to be a cowboy). Now, I am trying to fulfill that dream. This will be a journal of that journey :: my research, my joys, my frustrations, and all of the things that go along with the beginning farmer.

Congratulations! And welcome to the world, little one. He'll be a farm boy, for sure!
Congratulations and best wishes. I am enjoying reading your blog about your farm adventures. Blessings to you all!
Congratulations - what a blessing for both you and your new son! It is fantastic to hear you talking about your newborn son and how he will help you on your farm. I wonder how many fathers don't know how precious that is. Working together ... with your son ... on a farm!
Congratulations! It is really impressive how fast they get a personality and start growing up.
(We just had ours 6 weeks ago today. Yowza! She was almost born at home... not on purpose.) Best wishes to your wife on recovery- birth is some hard work.
Congratulations!
This is sort of timely. I've been reading your blog since the article in the register a few months back. In 2009, I'm interested in volunteering on a farm for a week or two to get an idea of what goes on on a farm. If you are interested, or know someone else in central Iowa that needs volunteers in 2009, please shoot me an email at nuriko_18 at hotmail dot com.
